Shawn Mickelonis is committed to serving the city he loves. A former state representative and current chairman of the Greater Dover Republican Committee, Shawn brings years of experience in public service and a proven record of leadership. He is running for Mayor to ensure Dover remains safe, affordable, and thriving for every resident.

"Dover deserves leadership that protects families, keeps neighborhoods safe, and makes our city affordable. I will fight to lower taxes, tackle drugs and homelessness, ensure affordable housing, and hold city government accountable. Together, we can make Dover a stronger, safer, and more prosperous community for everyone."

Platform & Priorities

Lower Taxes & Fiscal Responsibility

  • Stop overspending and keep property taxes under control.

  • Hold all city departments accountable for efficient, transparent use of taxpayer dollars.

  • Avoid unnecessary debt and projects that don’t directly benefit residents

Addressing Homelessness

  • Implement responsible programs that assist the homeless while reducing public safety risks.

  • Partner with nonprofits and faith-based organizations to provide structured pathways to self-sufficiency.

Education & Youth Opportunity

  • Promote quality local schools while keeping costs under control.

  • Support programs that prepare students for careers and foster responsibility, work ethic, and community involvement.

Affordable Housing

  • Make housing affordability a top priority to keep families, young professionals, and seniors in Dover.

  • Collaborate with City Council and state representatives to create practical, long-term housing solutions.

  • Develop pro sub-division policies that work to create more housing with less impact on infrastructure costs than new development

Clean, Safe, Reliable Water

  • Protect Dover’s water supply and invest responsibly in infrastructure to ensure safe drinking water for all residents.

Conservative Values & Community Engagement

  • Promote personal responsibility, volunteerism, and civic pride

  • Keep government transparent, accountable, and focused on serving residents.

  • Preserve Dover’s traditional values while fostering economic opportunity and community well-being.

Public Safety & Law & Order

  • Fully support police, fire, and first responders with the resources they need.

  • Strengthen community policing and neighborhood safety.

  • Tackle drug misuse through enforcement, rehabilitation programs, and collaboration with neighboring communities.

Smart Growth & Local Control

  • Ensure development respects Dover’s neighborhoods and character.

  • Protect green spaces while encouraging responsible business growth.
